Anginetti AKA Italian Sprinkle Cookies or Lemon Drops

A super easy, simple soft, light Italian cookie covered with a set white glaze.  A classic cookie, present on every cookie tray at weddings and holiday gatherings throughout the year.

From my podcast guest, Tina Zaccardi, Winner of the Great American Bakeoff. Her Italian grandmother made this traditional recipe with her. 

Basic Ingredients

2 sticks butter 1½ cups powdered sugar 6 eggs 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 tsp kosher salt 5 - 6 cups AP  6 tsp  baking powder

Easy Instructions

Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs one at a time. Add 1cup flour + 1 tsp baking powder up to 5 of each. Knead remaining flour/powder in until just past sticky.

Over 11 variations

Use Tina's vanilla version, or add lemon, anise, almond flavorings to make Lemon Knot Cookies, Anisettes, etc;

Choose a shape, bake, and glaze.

Knot the dough for Italian Love Knots or simply roll into balls for Anise Drops. Bake 15 minutes and glaze by dipping or pouring. Don't forget the sprinkles!
