A rich and luxurious chocolate brownie cake made with melted butter and chocolate rather thantraditional cocoa powder.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cup Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 4 oz Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate
  • 1/2 cup Butter (*See Note 1)
  • 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/4 cup Milk

Make The Recipe

  1. Sift together the flour and baking powder in a large bowl.
  2. Add the salt.
  3. Melt the chocolate and butter together in the microwave in 20 second increments.
  4. Add the sugars to the chocolate mixture. Beat well.
  5. Whisk in the eggs and the milk until liquidy and shiny like chocolate syrup.
  6. Pour the chocolate mixture into the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  7. Pour into a 9 inch greased pan and bake for 30 minutes

Notes

  1. You can substitute butter for vegetable oil; a good rule of thumb is to use 3/4 cup of oil to 1 cup of butter.
  2. You can add a teaspoon of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.
