When others described Marybeth Wells they would always use the same words - "intense", "energetic", "strong", "successful". At this point in her life, people use different words - words like "calm" and "grounded" - and yes, still successful, as Marybeth owns two successful businesses - one specializing in brand photography business and the other specializing in life&business coaching for women. The path to this balanced version of Marybeth passed through experiences that some people could spend a lifetime accumulating  - modeling at a tender age, disordered eating, successful careers in emergency flight and tactical medicine, competitive fighting in a ring, and ultimately burnout. This is an episode about change - change that is right there, within your grasp. Marybeth makes a convincing argument that the change you’re looking for is not hidden in an article or another podcast, it doesn’t require more knowledge or tips or advice - and maybe, it actually begins with blocking out all that messaging - and maybe it begins with our approach to food.

**Just a heads up that this episode, as I’ve mentioned, does discuss disordered eating, some scientific studies related to eating, and even specific calorie counts at one point.

Nevertheless, I think this is a powerful episode. I’ll admit Marybeth really made me rethink and change my mind on some things and I’m just excited for you to dive in!

More About The Storied Recipe Podcast

The concept of The Storied Recipe is unique - every guest gives me a recipe that represents a cherished memory, custom, or person. I actually make, photograph, and share the recipe. During the interview, I discuss the memories and culture around the recipe, and also my experience (especially my mistakes and questions!) as I tried it. My listeners and I are a community that believes food is a love language unto itself. With every episode, we become better cooks and global citizens, more grateful for the gift of food, and we honor those that loved us through their cooking.
