102 Want Something to Change? Start Here. (With Marybeth Wells)

Last Modified: Mar 16, 2024 · This post may contain affiliate links

From the time Marybeth Wells was a child, everyone used the same words to describe her: "intense", "energetic", "strong", "successful".

However, at this point in her life, people use different words - words like "calm" and "grounded" - and yes, still successful, as Marybeth owns two successful businesses - one specializing in brand photography business and the other specializing in life & business coaching for women.

The path to this balanced version of Marybeth passed through experiences that some people could spend a lifetime accumulating  - modeling at a tender age, disordered eating, successful careers in emergency flight and tactical medicine, competitive fighting in a ring, and ultimately burnout.

This is an episode about change - change that is right there, within your grasp. Marybeth makes a convincing argument that the change you're looking for is not hidden in an article or another podcast, it doesn't require more knowledge or tips or advice - and maybe, it actually begins with blocking out all that messaging - and maybe it begins with our approach to food.

Highlights

  • The pros and cons of energy, motivation, and strength
  • Redefining worth (when it's no longer in productivity)
  • Addiction to achievement and ego
  • Positive and negative experiences modeling at the tender age of 14
  • "I feel like a suitcase being shipped around the world"
  • What is Marybeth's definition of disordered eating?
  • Connecting with our intuition in order to change... everything
  • Connecting to our intuition THROUGH our approach to food and movement
  • Why Marybeth begins every coaching journey  with discussions about food & movement
  • Dangerous Dieting and Starvation
  • Messaging from diet culture vs. the wellness industry vs. the medical community
  • "Nothing is permanent"
